New week, new challenges. In this blog post I'm going to share my thoughts about this week's task, video editing.

This week started with group task where we had to create a team presentation video for our group, Team SuperSonics. We had a brief two hour lecture on monday where we were given introduction to video editing. In my opinion it was a bit too short introduction for those that have no prior experience from editing. At least our digital coaches offered to give extra help for those who needed it. I was in the lucky position having done video editing before so I wasn't too overwhelmed by the task. In our team meeting I was the only one with previous experience so I offered to edit our group's presentation. We had a quick planning session where I presented some ideas about the video and what kind of material I need for editing. My team showed greatness with their own ideas and their professional acting skills made my task easier. We were done in a few hours and I was ready try to do some experimental editing. I challenged myself by promising to edit 6 different clips into 6 screen simultaneously. Most of the people probably don't realize how much work goes into editing. In my case the part was 15 seconds long and required 2 hours of magic and youtube tutorials to get it to work. One can only imagine how many hundreds or more likely thousands of hours goes into editing and adding special effects in Hollywood films. But in this case I managed to finish the video without too any problems and I'm satisfied with the results.

Video editing is that kind of an art where you could spend endless hours to perfect your product but since this isn't a video editing course the line had to be drawn somewhere.

So many buttons! Looks complicated doesn't it?

This Thursday we had two guest lecturers. I believe the first gentleman was from Nielsen Finland but since I was late I'm really not sure (shame on me). It was interesting to listen to him speaking about product placement in markets since I worked myself at a local S-market last summer so I could reflect my experiences to what he was talking about. He had very good points to say the least about placing the more expensive products before the cheaper ones in each shelf category to increase revenue and profit. However towards the end of the lecture presentation kinda got too technical about the tools they use. All I can remember is that they have great tools they can input data in and after analyzing the output they can help their clients. But unfortunately as a student I felt like it didn't help me too much. I have to say that my reading and picture memory are so much better than hearing memory. I'm not a great listener when it comes to memorizing things. The second lecture by AFS I have completely forgotten. I blame my friend that was sitting next to me pointing out fact that the man from AFS sounded like Gandalf's actor Sir Ian Mckellen. After that it was all I could focus on and all hope was lost for me learning anything from the lecture.

I'm looking forward to next week when we kick-off our company project with SSM (Suomen Suoramainonta). So many possibilities what our overlords are going to make us do. But for now I guess it's time to say goodbye and good night and for me to start preparing for a new week. Adieu
